Nourishing with Compassion

May 1, 2026 — Feeding Bodies, Restoring Hope

Right now, there are people in your own community deciding how to stretch one meal into two. There are seniors skipping meals to afford medication. There are families hoping someone will show up for them.

Rising costs and ongoing economic pressure are forcing households to make difficult choices between basic needs like rent, healthcare, and groceries. In underserved communities, especially in areas with limited access to affordable, nutritious food, this challenge is even greater.

Food pantries have become essential resources, providing consistent support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. As demand continues to grow, so does the need for reliable, sustained assistance.

Claretian-Led programs are responding through initiatives like Claretian Associates, connecting seniors to food access, housing support, and community resources that bring both stability and dignity.

Through local parishes, our supported food pantries distribute food and essential items to those in need as consistently as possible. At Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Southside Chicago, dozens of families receive perishable goods, sometimes even a hot meal, which is especially important in an area where grocery stores are less accessible and prices are high. This is just one of the many food initiatives working to provide hope, one box at a time

Some of our supported programs, like Claret House (Casa Corazon), that help forced migrants through their journey, provide meals and other resources.

If you need support, don’t wait, take advantage of the resources available to you. These programs exist for you.

If you’re in a position to give, now is the time. Your gift directly helps keep pantry shelves stocked, supports critical services, and ensures that no one is left behind—the Claretian motto.
